An exceptional guest for the fourth edition of the “ATG - Cornèr Banca” journalism prize

On Monday, 16 March 2009, the award-winners ceremony was held for the fourth edition of the ATG (Ticino Journalists' Association) - Cornèr Banca journalism prizes, a biennial competition sponsored and promoted by our bank.

The guest of honour was the prestigious Italian journalist and writer Piero Ottone, former editor of the daily papers “Il Secolo XIX” and “Corriere della Sera” and currently an editorialist and member of the Board of Directors of “La Repubblica” newspaper group.

Considered to be one of the most important figures in the recent history of Italian journalism, Ottone, interviewed by Aldo Bertagni, the Deputy Editor of “laRegioneTicino”, enthralled the large audience with the story of his career marked by many important recognitions, also at the international level, and insisted on the principles that should still guide the highly sensitive profession of journalism.

Following the interview, ATG’s former Chairman, Maurizio Canetta, started the prize-giving ceremony by introducing the new Chairwoman Cristina Ferrari.

Paolo Cornaro, our bank’s CEO, explained that, with this prize, Cornèr intends to make a contribution to the quality of information by recognizing the professionalism and value of all those who, every day, make a mission of their jobs, in the interest of the collectivity.
